Jim Grant is Director of Exploration and New Ventures for Continental Resources at the company’s Oklahoma City headquarters. His responsibilities include pursuing organic growth initiatives in the lower 48 and globally as part of the company’s commitment delivering energy to the world.

Mr. Grant previously served as Vice President of New Energy Ventures & Chief Geoscientist for Chesapeake Energy, where he worked at the company’s Oklahoma City headquarters. In this role, he played an instrumental part in advancing Next-Gen Geothermal technologies and Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) initiatives. His leadership was pivotal in integrating these cutting-edge technologies into Chesapeake’s portfolio, aligning with the company's commitment to affordable, reliable, and lower-carbon energy.

His career at both Chesapeake and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation involved various leadership, corporate, and technical roles. His background spans the E&P value chain, with past positions including Vice President of Subsurface, Vice President of Exploration and Geoscience Technology; Exploration Manager roles in West Africa, the South Atlantic Margin, and the Asia Pacific region; and corporate roles such as Worldwide Exploration Planning Manager and Director of Investor Relations.

Mr. Grant holds a BA in geology from Hamilton College, an MS in geology from the University of Idaho, and an MBA from Rice University, where he was a Jones Scholar Award recipient.
