James A. Sorensen, Director of Subsurface Research & Development at the Energy & Environmental Research Center (EERC), develops and manages programs and projects focused on conventional, unconventional, and enhanced oil and gas production; geological storage of CO2; geothermal; and other energy and environmental research.

Mr. Sorensen has worked at the EERC for over 30 years and his primary areas of interest and expertise are enhanced oil recovery (EOR) in unconventional tight oil formations, CO2 utilization and storage in geologic formations, and tight oil resource assessment and development. Mr. Sorensen holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology and Master of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering, both from the University of North Dakota.
